The Alcohol-Narcotic Education Foundation (ANEF) was incorporated by the State of California as a public benefit corporation in 1956. ANEF engages exclusively in research and education in the problems of alcohol and drugs. ANEF maintains a library of prevention videos, and has published brochures and textbooks for use in the churches and public schools. The ANEF library is open for use by students and researchers. Video tapes may be borrowed by schools and or churches.

Video Tapes:

"Alcohol and the Mind" 30 minutes, for adults and older youth: When it comes to the impact on Alcohol on the Mind, this video is tops. It reveals the self-awareness that comes to heavy drinkers when they discover what alcohol has done to their memories, their judgments, to feelings, to driving, to health, to friendships, to maturity, to pleasure and fun. Two doctors briefly interpret the affects of alcohol on the unique gift of the human mind. The video ends positively as adults who have come close to personal disaster discover how sobriety has made their lives more meaningful, safer, rewarding and satisfying. The final words of the video: "Alcohol turns off the lights of your mind."

"Drinking and Driving: A Deadly Decision" 16 minutes, for Senior High. This documentary focuses on the emotional after-effects and the social, financial, legal and career costs incurred by a young intoxicated driver. His simple language reveals his deep remorse. The second episode reflects the anger of a young mother who lost her husband to a teenager. Finally, a police officer talks very straight about sobriety tests, court proceedings, jail time, huge legal fees and stupidity of driving after drinking. Video is very direct and speaks to both the mind and emotions about the risks involved in driving under the influence.

"Just Say kNOw to Drugs" 22 minutes, for Senior High and Adults. Here is a rich video in which youth and popular celebrities speak about living in a drug-saturated world. Youth from the drug culture share some horror stories about their lack of self-esteem, loneliness, peer pressures, alienation from families, need for real friends, lack of self-control, escapism, self-hatred, and suicidal thoughts. Interviews are balanced by statements of popular celebrities who tell of their vitality in living drug-free. Video ends with affirmations of youth on how great life has become when they learned to live without drugs and alcohol. Video is powerful and touching.
